FAQ
Do you take custom orders or commissions?
I do not take custom orders. In my experience, custom pieces rarely turn out the way a customer imagines, and they pull me away from making the work I love — and the work you see in my shop.
If you like one of my existing forms, I can sometimes make it in a different color using the glazes I already use. However, I cannot create new shapes or designs outside my current collection.
Basically:
If you love the style I make, I can work within that world. If you want something totally different… I’m probably not your potter.
If you have a question about colors or upcoming batches, feel free to email kopottery@gmail.com.
How do restocks work?
My pottery is made in small batches, and pieces tend to sell out quickly. I announce restocks through:
- My email list
- Instagram @kopottery
If you want first access, join the email list — that’s where updates always land first.
When will an item be back in stock?
Because each piece is handmade from start to finish, I cannot guarantee exact restock dates for specific items.
Many designs do come back regularly, though — so if you love something, sign up for the email list or follow me on Facebook or Instagram to catch the next release.
Do you offer local pickup?
Yes! I always offer local pickup during online sales.
Pickup happens at my studio in San Marcos, Texas (not at my home).
Just select Local Pickup at checkout, and I’ll send details once your order is ready.
Is handmade pottery dishwasher- and microwave-safe?
Yes — dishwasher safe and microwave safe.
In fact, I personally break more pots when handwashing because everything is wet and slippery. Dishwashers do not get anywhere near the temperatures I fire to, so they’re perfectly safe.
Tip: Make sure your piece isn’t touching another item in the dishwasher so nothing bumps during the cycle.
Please avoid extreme thermal shock (for example, freezer → hot oven) and do not use pieces on stovetops or open flames.
What if my piece arrives broken?
If your pottery arrives damaged, email me within 48 hours at kopottery@gmail.com
with:
- Photos of the broken piece(s)
- Photos of the box and packaging
Shipping carriers require all photos for claims.
Once I receive them, I’ll do my best to make it right — whether that’s a replacement, refund, or remake if possible.
Can I gift your pottery?
Absolutely! Handmade pottery makes wonderful gifts.
If you’d like to include a handwritten note, just add your message at checkout and I’ll tuck it in with your order.
How do I care for my handmade pottery?
- Dishwasher safe (and recommended over handwashing)
- Make sure your piece isn’t touching other items in the dishwasher
- Microwave safe
- Avoid extreme temperature changes (like freezer → hot oven)
- Do not place on stovetops or open flames
Well-made pottery is durable — but like anything handmade, it appreciates a little kindness.
