Black Water Carved Mug

This porcelain mug is glazed with an Ice Blue Celadon, decorated with Black underglaze and dripped with hot wax. It is then slowly wiped with a wet sponge leaving behind a black raised surface where the wax touched the pot. This technique is known as “water carving “ or “water etching.” Every cup is a little different in decor depending on where the wax falls, making it truly one of a kind.
