Mishima Tankard
Approx. 5” x 4 ¼”w x 4 ¾” d
Holds Approx. 16 fl oz.
This porcelain Tankard is glazed with a Sage Grey Celadon and decorated using a slight version of Mishima, a technique from Japan that uses a slip inlay. I use metal circular tips for the circles and an X-Acto knife for the lines that are indented/cut into the leather hard clay. I then inlay black underglaze into the design. Each circle is filled with porcelain slip and has a pleasant tactile feel while enhancing the overall design.
This drinking vessel is great for those who love large quantities of coffee, tea, or a nice chilled drink.
The handle has porcelain slip dots at the top, which gives it a delightful tactile feel under your thumb. You will want to hold and rub your tankard handle while drinking tea or coffee and contemplate your day.
