Oil Bottle Black Water Carved

Approx: 7” height and 4” wide

This porcelain Black Water Carved Oil Bottle is glazed with an Ice Blue Celadon glaze, decorated with Black underglaze and dripped with hot paraffin wax.  It is then slowly wiped with a wet sponge leaving behind a black raised surface where the wax touched the pot.  This technique is known as “water carving” or “water etching.”  Every Oil Bottle is a little different in design depending on where the wax falls, making it one of a kind.
