Black Water Carved Tankard

 Holds Approx. 16 fl oz.

Approx. 5” x 4 ¼”w x 4 ¾” d 

 This Porcelain Tankard is glazed with an Ice Blue Celadon, decorated with Black underglaze and dripped with hot paraffin wax.  It is then slowly wiped with a wet sponge leaving behind a black raised surface where the wax touched the pot.  This technique is known as “water carving” or “water etching.”  Every Tankard is a little different in design depending on where the wax falls, making it truly one of a kind.

This drinking vessel is great for those who love large quantities of coffee, tea, or a nice chilled drink.  

The handle has porcelain slip dots at the top, which gives it a delightful tactile feel under your thumb.  You will want to hold and rub your tankard handle while drinking tea or coffee and contemplate your day.
